Daisy

Close up of the daisy.  I've had them for many years, transported from Saline.  They are really doing well this year.

Blooming in the Front Yard

Out in front the daisies and lilies are blooming.

Close up of the lily.  They are really large and lovely.   Just a generic plant nothing really special but they do add a lot of nice color.

This is along the walkway.   Spirea are still blooming the muted lavender blossoms, the stella odoro day lilies are in bloom and the campanullas.   They get larger every year and flower more.  Except for one or two spots, my idea of a solid edge of white blooms from now until fall is happening.

Blooming

There are lots of flowers blooming these days.  It's wonderful to see so much that has recovered.

Coreopsis on the hill side.

Purple Clematis on the trellis below the deck

White peonies by the arbor.

Red Peonies by the arbor

Polish Spirit Clematis on the trellis below the deck.

Also the lovely yellow rose above is the Julia Child that is so hardy and resilient.

Lawn Mowing

Wayne mowed the lawn last night and weed wacked.  The weeding is coming along.

Two rose bushes are still growing a little.   They have tiny shoots at the base.  They still need to have dead branches cut off.

Two rose bushes are entirely dead.   They need to be dug up and removed.

Vines are gone--the two honey suckle and the trumpet.  They all need to be removed.

One of the bridal spirea needs to be dug up.  It's not dead but looks terrible.

The summer snow needs to be pruned.

Wayne removed the lavender and the rosemary.   They were both dead or dying.

Fertilizer Stakes and Report

We fertilized all the shrubs and trees on Saturday and yesterday.   Glad to have that done.   It looks like we might only have one spirea that we have lost in the front yard.   Everything else is growing.

In the back we lost the JFC rose, but not a great loss, and the Living Easy, which was an expensive purchase and a gorgeous rose.  I am truly sad about that.

We lost the trumpet vine, which is a good thing, which we were in the process of killing.  However, both honey suckle vines are dead as well.

The lavender is gone, but it was old and not a big loss.   I have one star gazer lily come up and some designer iris purchased several years ago.   All the shade plants are growing but there was some losses on the waterfall.     We need to purchase new things there.

Dead Tree

The 15' gorgeous blue spruce in the back yard died over the winter.  The nusery said that there is a disease that strikes them when the are taller than 12'.  We purchased a new white spruce and will have the dead one removed.

Spring is Here--Sort Of

Wayne fertilized the lawn the last week of April.   It is still really cold and while we do have flowers out they are all really pretty pathetic.   Our forsythia is just barely blooming and the daffodils were ok.  Crocuses in the back, but the tulips are still rater late.  There are flowers on the pear trees in front but not as massive as previous years.   At least the grass is nice and green.

Temperatures have been in the 50s for week.  We should have a little warmer this week, but only one day.
